Is This Person a Scam? ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

1. Information We Collect

Investigation inputs. When you submit text or a screenshot for analysis, that content is transmitted to our servers solely to perform the analysis. It is not logged, stored, or persisted in any way.

Anonymous authentication. We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to identify your device session. This creates a random, anonymous identifier. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal information.

Usage counters. We track the number of investigations you perform each day to enforce free-tier limits. These counters contain no investigation content -- only a count that resets daily.

Analytics. We collect anonymous usage analytics (pages visited, features used, investigation completion rates) through Firebase Analytics and Google Analytics. These do not contain investigation content.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To perform AI-powered scam analysis on content you submit
• To enforce daily usage limits on the free tier
• To improve the app through anonymous usage analytics

3. Third-Party Services

To provide our analysis service, your investigation inputs are shared with the following third parties during the analysis process:

• Anthropic (Claude AI) -- Your submitted text or screenshot is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for AI-powered analysis. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of this data. Anthropic does not use API inputs for model training.
• Brave Search -- Search queries derived from your submitted content are sent to Brave Search to gather publicly available information. The queries do not include your full submitted text, only targeted search terms extracted by the AI.
• RevenueCat -- If you subscribe to a paid plan, RevenueCat processes your subscription status. Payment details are handled by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store), not by us. RevenueCat receives only your anonymous user ID and subscription status.
• Firebase (Google) -- Used for anonymous authentication, daily usage counters, and analytics. Firebase receives your anonymous user ID and basic device information.

4. Data Retention

• Investigation content: Not retained. Text, images, and generated reports are discarded immediately after the analysis is delivered to you.
• Usage counters: Reset daily. No historical investigation counts are maintained.
• Anonymous auth tokens: Persist on your device until you uninstall the app or clear app data.
• Analytics data: Retained by Firebase and Google Analytics per their standard retention policies, containing no investigation content.

5. Data Security

All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS. Investigation content exists in server memory only for the duration of the analysis request and is never written to persistent storage.

6. Your Rights

Because we do not store investigation data or collect personal information, there is minimal data to access, correct, or delete. However, you may:

• Uninstall the app to remove your local anonymous authentication token
• Contact us to request deletion of any analytics data associated with your anonymous ID
• Opt out of analytics by disabling analytics in your device settings

7. Children's Privacy

This app is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
